Deep Tissue Massage

Deep tissue massage — female therapist hands on draped back, looking down

Program Overview

Slow, deliberate techniques and firmer pressure directed at the deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue — for clients who find standard massage pressure does not reach where it needs to.

How Does It Work?

Before beginning, your therapist discusses your preferred pressure level and primary areas of concern. Treatment then works slowly through the deeper layers, commonly across the neck, shoulders, upper and lower back, hips and legs. Pressure is adjusted throughout to keep the session both effective and comfortable.

Key Benefits

Deliberate Pace

Slow, sustained techniques allow the deeper layers to release rather than brace against the pressure.

Targeted Work

The session concentrates on the specific areas you identify rather than covering everything evenly.

Adjustable Throughout

Pressure is checked and revised during the session so it stays firm without becoming unbearable.

Package Features

Treatment Includes

The session includes focused deep-pressure techniques, targeted muscular work and myofascial techniques, with treatment of the neck, shoulders, back, hips or legs as needed. Gentle stretching may be included when appropriate, and optional heat may be used when available and suitable. This treatment is intended for clients who prefer focused, firmer pressure. Individual experiences vary.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is deep tissue massage painful?

It should feel intense but manageable, never sharp or unbearable. Tell your therapist immediately if the pressure crosses that line — it will be adjusted.

Some clients feel mild soreness for a day or so, similar to after exercise. Drinking water and gentle movement usually help.

Not always. Tell your therapist about pregnancy, injuries, recent surgery, skin conditions or reduced sensation, and they will recommend a suitable alternative if needed.
